Situation Monitor spoke

BRICS member nations

A light-mode roster of core and expanded BRICS members, filed by country and region. Definition lives on whatisbrics.org; instruments live on bricspolicy.org.

This site does not invent GDP, defense-budget, or order-of-battle statistics. Conflict figures are cited inbound to armedconflicts.org when a member sits in a tracked theater. The hub is frozen — inbound links only.

Core members

Brazil, Russia, India, and China met as BRIC in 2009. South Africa joined in 2010–2011 and supplied the “S”.

Expanded members

Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates took full seats on 1 January 2024. Indonesia joined in January 2025.

Invited / unsettled

Saudi Arabia was invited in 2023. Public evidence of completed accession is mixed, so it is not filed as a confirmed full member. See the membership note.
